Build a bird nest
STEM is fun and engaging for both learners and the learning coaches as they require teamwork, integrating knowledge, making connections, sharing ideas to come up with a solution to a problem.
The STEM activity that I really liked was 'Build a bird nest' activity.
Learners had to work in a group of three and they had to explore and search for materials on their own. It was interesting to see what they pick and choose for their nest.
Some picked a bunch of dry leaves but no twigs.
Some picked lots of stiff twigs but they weren't flexible enough to bend and twist and weave to make a nest.
Learners are still learning to collaborate and developing teamwork. STEM activities are a great way to teach and build these crucial life skills.
