Te Reo Maori Language Week

Te Reo Maori Week This year, Te Reo Maori Language week starts on the 9th September. This is a special week for all New Zealanders to be reminded of our Maori culture and language. “The research shows that English-medium teachers in the participating schools displayed positive attitudes towards Māori language, and a critical awareness of the need to value the language." - te taurawhiri.govt.nz For many years, NZ teachers have been teaching learners Maori language as it is a vital part of the NZ Curriculum. It is very important for educators to encourage young people in Maori language and celebrating their successes. It is also crucial for educators to consistently integrate Maori culture and language in their lesson plan so that it becomes embedded in their daily lives. iDevelop SOI 2019

iDevelop SOI Reflection The focus of SOI for term 3 was to transform our iDevelop teaching using digital technologies. With help from Donna, I was able to identify my goals to implement digital technology for mathematics teaching and learning. Donna introduced me to various of i-pad applications and cool widgets that I could download on chrome-books. First, I wanted my learners to become fully independent when it comes to working on mathletics. Donna showed me how to download QR codes for my learners so that they could easily log in to their accounts without me helping them. This was very successful and allowed me more time to work with other learners. Secondly, as majority of my lessons incorporate hands-on mathematics activities, I was not able to keep a record of all learners' mathematical thinking and their way of solving problems. Ormiston Primary Community Sports Day

Ormiston Primary had a successful community sports day. All learners and learning coaches had lots of fun together playing various games and athletics activities. It was a great time for everyone as the school year is coming to an end, hence its the time to celebrate and have some fun!! Maunga was included in the junior programme packed with many fun and easy activities that all can enjoy. The learners loved participating in every activity and some even had the chance to compete with their parents and family members. It was a great time for me as I participated in all the activities with my learners! I can't wait for the next Ormiston community sports day!
